Reported by Milenio on July 21, in spite of recovery, mining in Mexico still had a wide gap compared with 2011 and 2012. According to a 2017 report made by Camimex, in addition to low price of metal and minerals, Mexican mining activities are also affected by factors such as lack of clear policy, ambiguous definition of protected areas, unclear land property, safety and heavier tax burden, haltering a lot of projects. In 2016, altogether 169 projects have been abandoned, an increase of 62.5% compared with 2013.
